How much is a billion dollars?
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
Let's put it into a proper perspective for a moment.
A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were
Living in the Stone Age.
D. A billion days ago no-one on two feet walked on the earth.
E. A billion dollars ago was only
8 hours and 20 minutes,
in current government spending .
While this thought is still fresh in our brain...
let's take a look at New Orleans ..
It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.
Louisiana Senator,
Mary Landrieu (D) is presently asking Congress for
250 BILLION DOLLARS
To rebuild New Orleans. Interesting number...
What does it mean?
A. Well .. If you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans
(every man, woman, and child)
You would each get $516,528.
B. Or... If you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home would receive $1,329,787.
C. Or.... If you are a family of four...
Your family would receives $2,066,012.
D. $770,000,000 remains (three-quarters of a billion dollars) in escrow in government funds set aside for Katrina homeowners and victims that local officials wish to stall to keep for other state purposes that it wasn't originally appropriated for, simply because if it remains in escrow past a certain date due to bureaucracy throttling, it can be re-appropriated to other venues. Presently, only $64,000 per claim average is being paid on a preset $150,000 per claim "cap" that was supposed to be allowed as set forth and promised in legislative statutes!
E. A BILLION DOLLARS PER DAY IS SPENT ON PURCHASING OVERSEAS OIL JUST TO MEET THE NEVER-ENDING AND RECURRING DEMANDS OF OUR UNITED STATES FOR ENERGY!!!!
F. A BILLION DOLLARS A DAY FOR A MERE 4 YEAR TERM OF A PRESIDENTIAL ADMINISTRATION, WOULD ASSURE OUR COUNTRY'S INDEPENDENCE AND ELIMINATE OUR NEED TO FURTHER ADVANCE ALTERNATIVE CLEAN ENERGY DEMANDS NATION WIDE!!!
G. A BILLION DOLLARS A DAY WOULD TOTALLY REMOVE OUR INDEBTEDNESS AND SUBSTANDARD COMPARISON TO CHINA, WHICH LEADS THE WORLD AT PRESENT IN ENERGY EFFICIENCY TECHNOLOGIES!!!!

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Such taxation didn't exist 100 years ago...
And our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt...
We had the largest middle class in the world...
Women could actually raise children without having to quote psych book authors, or seeing a psych...and
Our daughters weren't coming out of school, foul mouthed and ill tempered, with little to no respect for others, and politeness was not considered a weakness...
Our son's weren't shooting fellow classmates in mass to get attention and realize their goals and value in life...
the right to assembly didn't include the right to bear street gang tattoos and bear illegal arms...
Our way of life resisted hate crimes, and laws did't have to be written to enforce that morality and way of life...while BILLIONS are legally seized in criminally and drug related convictions.
Our school systems use to operate efficiently instead of continuously being broke, even though BILLIONS are collected in taxes and BILLIONS are collected through state lotteries that were SUPPOSE to cure the school tax burdens...
while 10 percent of the pupils are graduating with inadequate educations and with learning deficiencies, with more and more students unable to properly read n' write or fluently speak American English, and many school systems have special classrooms and programs that graduate an ever increasing number of immigrant students that can only speak Spanish.
Why, since such taxation is suppose to fund government programs to feed the needy, the poor, the elderly and disabled, are legislators attempting to take $11 per person away from government food benefit programs to help pay for federal deficits, while others are seeking to stall and kick-out legislation that would "slightly" raise taxes on households that are enjoying the luxuries purchased on a $200,000 per year income and multi-BILLION dollar corporations are spending MILLIONS to lobby against increased taxes during windfall profits?
What happened?
Can you spell
politicians = drainage = $ billions $
and we as a people cannot touch those who abuse our political
engines and legislative branches
we as a nation cannot curb that sewer that sucks BILLIONS
out of our National Treasury
And come to think of it, when I call to cast my opinion in order to promote my
feelings and ideals for better legislation to my local Representative or Senator
